Hello Eric,
I don't care for the sewing job on the M42 cap on the link you posted.
Fred
Pete on the Collectors guild is a sharp guy and I also like his.
I would like to hear more on this subject of sewing.
Thanks for your input Fred.

Re: Heer M34 Feldmutze find.
Nice Find, Eric!
Can't help with sewing, mom always did that, but I hope to come across a nice cap like this in my travels. Unless the thread is obviously new, I can't imagine how it could be said whether done period or not. Fair to say, we collectors would agree it was done in the period unless something blatantly says otherwise?!

Hi Mark.
It is nice to find things in my own town and at a good deal.
This was bought at an estate sale with other items that I could not buy.
They had a green M34 civil helmet some bayos and P38 and some US, medals.

Too bad you weren't able to secure some of those other items I like firearms and another P38 would be a treat! Were they not for sale or priced way too high (as is often the case)?

I have a nice P38 myself so I passed and price on it was high IMO.
I am not a Bayo collector or US medal collector But I still have a chance to get the Civil helmet from my friend that bought it.
Got the cap for 200$ and funds run short fast.

Re: Heer M34 Feldmutze find.
Hi Rene.
I have heard of the outsourcing them to household but never LAGO term.
Thanks for the info mate.

No worries Eric
Here a stamp from my 40 dated Vienna LAGO great coat which has some hand sewn bits and pieces on it

Re: Heer M34 Feldmutze find.
It is probably fine given the source, but it could have been sewn back on by the vet (improbable but not impossible). Keep in mind these were cheap disposable mass produced items. Other items did have a higher quality standard true. But many 'Haute Couture' TR collectors today think WW II was a fashion show and don't seem to be aware that the Germans were busy loosing a war for many years and source and standards varried widely.
