The cap was made in Neuruppin, a Pz garrison in the Mark Brandenburg. I think it is an old saw of collector lore that III. Reich caps "...never had grey interiors..." but this one does. It was a very nice cap. Today it has a new, happy home, where one hopes the owner secures it from moths, uv rays, too many fingers, as well as from awful dust and grime.

I totally Agree with Friedrich, the idea that visors did not have any grey interiors is absurd. I admit that more than a few repros have grey interiors and grey sweatbands, however there is a distinct difference between the TR period and current repros, and the grey undervisor is totally correct, I own a few myself and the first one I bought was a leap of faith not being as well versed in the hobby at that time. After many lessons from really knowledgeable "Hat" guys, learned I did "young skywalker".

This grey SS cap has a grey interior, too, though I do not have an image of it.Heer Panzer schirmmutzeHeer Panzer schirmmutze

F-B is correct--the "if its got a gray interior it is a fake" mentality is simply incorrect. You will see gray interiors most often on Pekuros.

The reason for the myth is that most post-war BRD visors (of all types) use gray interiors, but they simply do not compare to their TR Opas.
