Interesting! If so, this would then be the cap at some point owned by John R. Angolia?
Apropos the epoch of the 1980s, the Stern editor, Nannen(?), who was the ground zero of Kujau, was an avid collector of what we analyze here. He had a very large collection.
I recall that event very well, as I was living in the FRG at the time and colleagues of mine gotten taken in by what were obviously silly fakes.

Wow, that brings back memories--I recall seeing that POS at the Imperial Palace some 25 years ago. At least the car was real.
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Here is a better pic of the AH hat when at auction in the 70s or 80s. (apparently Phillips of London)
It follows the pattern of the originals, but no interior photo.
Looks similar to the one Wim's colleague owns:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
This is another claimed AH hat.
Caption says "Auctioneer Hermann Otto Winiarski Showing Hitlers Drivers License And Hat"
Even with this bad photo, it is not an AH hat.
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Another photo I had not seen before.
The caption states:
Here is an American army personnel holding the clothes and the shoes Adolf Hitler was wearing on July 20, 1944, the day of the bomb plot. It was taken in November, 1945, after the Americans discovered Eva Braun’s trunk, where this was discovered.. You can see Eva’s photo albums and other personal books in the left of the photo. "
The clothes were apparently destroyed by the US Army.
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Hitler seems to have worn this white-top only rarely (in most other photos he wears his standard visor with the white uniform).
It has yet to crop up to this day:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
First time that I have seen this thread. What an interesting read. Thanks to all the contributors.
