Thanks Arran for clearing that up.
To continue the discussion, here's a shot from the Autumn of 1935 when Hitler has adopted a much stiffer style of cap.

See post #41. And it would appear a larger eagle. We're still lacking those "early" small eagle Hitler photos. In 1933 and 1934 Hitler must have been the most photographed man in Germany. Where are these early small eagle cap photos?
Agree Anderson. Still say that eagle is way too small on the OP image to match anything we have seen posted here as far as period pics
D.
Problem is that in these early days he hardly ever is seen wearing a cap - if he has one with him he more often than not carries it in his hand (If you go through all the pictures here: https://www.hitler-archive.com/index.php?y=1934 you can have a look for yourselves).
There are, however some pictures here which show him with caps with small eagle. The caps are not as high as the cap for sale and one seems to display a metal eagle:

1935 inside view - Holters: https://www.hitler-archive.com/photo.php?p=BS5ZQ900
So that's a bit of a problem for those thinking authentication and provenance is important. Buying this cap is a giant step of faith. Maybe an early Hitler hat he never worn in public, may be a post war creation by his former Hatter, on commission for Jim Atwood or some other dodgy dealer of the early post war era. Take your pick.
Hey Anderson.
Discounting the "comedic" remarks that are now compromising this thread (as usual)....what do you think of this pic one of the guys posted ? Might be a match ? Or at least IMO...the closest similarity in regards to the eagle from the OP I have seen posted here. Your thoughts ?
D.
That's the smallest eagle posted so far. Interesting to see the chin strap in use! Looks like a soft crusher type.
But here's another problem; The cap maker label for Wilhelm Holters shown in post #24 shows the address as Berlin W50. From larger labels in Holters made Waffenrocks we know that was the Tauentzienstr 16 address. A thread of such uniforms on WAF has the date the uniform was made on the labels and we know Holters was at that address from 1937. Before that the firm was located at Wilhelmstr.49, Berlin W8.
So an early cap made for Hilter in 1933 to late 1936 should have a label "Holters Uniformen, Berlin W8", NOT Berlin W50, as is shown for the cap for sale.
To have a Berlin W50 address it indicates made from 1937 and by then all the photos we see are the larger eagles.
Another warning sign might be this internet link to a dealer who was advertising a post war "recreated" Generals uniform made by the son of a wartime tailor, who found bits and pieces left over in the shop after the war! This stuff happened.
Recreated Uniforms
When you've lost the argument, resort to humour I guess.
