That is terrible for such an iconic piece of history to be laid out flat in a box.
Their new approach seems odd, but I'm not a museum curator/visor specialist.
    Great for display purposes.
I hope it stands up for another 50 years.

    Thanks for sharing that video.

I agree about the visor, and about the glasses not being noticed on the black display.
But I am not in favor for the new display. The metal construction for the pipe and sun glasses is way to obvious.
They should have used something translucent, neutral or a slender construction then the one they used now...
Always looking for Belgian Congo stuff!

The visor was an American work of art:

I was thinking they would of had a type of effigy of his head sporting all the items, But maybe that would not of supported the items in a proper way to preserve .

Life magazine photo of the visor. Note the natural curve to the visor, now sadly lost:

    Hmmm,

this must be another McArthur visor - in this picture there are seams above/underneath of the seam of the top panel which are not to be seen in the other pictures/the museum example... (which is, frankly speaking something I don't understand - neither piping nor securing seams on such a visor is very unusual - I own one of the 1940ies which has these securing seams as shown in the Life picture).
Apart from that - wonderful embroidery - who could do that today? (in the US??)

That is one of the silliest interviews I’ve seen. From a conservation perspective it’s a joke. One of the many reasons why museums are often cited by collectors as one of the worst places for militaria

So where/when was his Visor made. I'm find him wearing a normal visor as a Major general. So when did he start wearing the iconic version and was it made in the US or when he was in the Philippines?
