Interesting Period Modified Standartenfuhrer Kepi
This kepi is circa 1932/1933 prior to RZM control. It is the non-rigid top form found worn by early SA officers. This kepi started out life as a red top Staff officer's kepi. At some point, the officer was promoted to Standartenfuhrer of a standarte in Gruppe Sudwest with the orange-yeoow top. As can be seen in the pictures, the orange-yellow top was added over the existing staff red and the litze for Standartenfuhrer added. The leather chin strap has been 50% replaced due to wear. In the photo, you can see how much thinner one side is from the other. The officer evidently had a fondnest for this cap as he wore it in the days of struggle. Was he frugile, as evidenced by the half done repair to the chin strap or sentimental?
LIFE'S LOSERS NEVER LEARN FROM THE ERROR OF THEIR WAYS.
