Hi Guys, I am posting this cap on the forum for a friend of mine, Rob Truscot. He has just joined the forum. My knowledge of KM items is weak and I realise that Bundesmarine items are often doctored up to become wartime. The following are Rob's comments on it.

Cant find much to compare with but ww2 characteristics seem to overlap to Bundesmarine with this area. The lining is Royal blue silk, crinkled but celluloid sweatsheild. Hamburg maker which i cant identify . Smooth high quality wool used, shows up as blue only with flash photo, actually seems almost black .

Lastly, I put the insignia and strap on as none were present when I got this cap in Russia. Supposedly came out of North Russia. Thanks for your help here . I'm real keen to get feedback on it ! Best Wishes ,Rob.

    Cheers, Ade.

The maker Carl Feddersen still exists in Hamburg as a seaman's outfitter,
    Carl Federsen Sea Shop
    Deichstr. 35
    20459 Hamburg, Germany
    +49 40 365968

They don't seem to have a website but try google.

If the sweatshield is actually celluloid it could a Third Reich era cap or just after.

You might contact them to find out when the logo and shop address (Kajen 14) was used or if they can otherwise identify the era of the cap.
