Is this Kriegsmarine cap authentic?

Can you tell me if this kriegsmarine cap is real? The owner purchased it with a collection and has no idea of the background. He did indicate that the hat pin was a repro. Thanks for any help you can give me. Frank

I did hear back from the Carl Kohert Co, which is still in business in Germany, that the hat was pre 1945 WW 2 vintage. I would still be interested in other views. Thanks Frank

It looks okay, but I'm no expert - wait for some other opinions. But it would be nice to get some better views of the hat. Try and get a profile, the visor, the sweatband, etc. It's definitely pretty salty. You're right about the eagle, though, it's definitely fake. If it's real, it's a great hat.
