Hi, with the dark blue lieutenants visor I'm really not sure. It looks like an early Bundeswehr Navy hat. The difference you can find on the embroidered visor. The sewn on embroidered border is in typical Bundeswehr style. The Kriegsmarine visors had an embroidered border like a collar cord. I will try to add some pictures for the difference later.

Hi Rene,
Thanks for your commentsYeah i am thinking that these caps are Bundeswehr again.I asked for close up shots of the visor edge and had no reply so maybe he knows the differance too
Tom
Hi Tom,
here I post 2 pictures showing the difference

Hi Tom,
I enclose also some pix how the cap could be made inside.
The pictures you got from inside the blue cap look much for a Bundesmarine visor. Did you see the modern foam material?

René
Thanks for the photos, Rene007.
But Tom B's picture of the blue cap still deviates from these - there is no felt gap between the braid and leather trim in his picture.
I remain skeptical of the original, for sure.
Hi Rene and frog,
The debate continues with these caps.I like the photos but i see no foam addition to the liner though it could have been removed.I don't think it has the stich edge to the wire rank braid either but thats an interesting view of that one
Tom
Actually it does have the foam inside now i look at it again
Hmmmmm
Tom
Hi Frog,
the gap between braid is just at the one sample I posted.
Many Bundeswehr Navy hats don't have this gap. It depends on the hat maker and where he buys the visors. I can try to find another sample with no gap between braid and keather if you wish.
I enclose the picture showing the soft foam inside of the the discussed cap
Hi rene,
Thank's for the pic again Thats what i was looking at so looks like they are confirmed postwar examples.Hes asking good money too so i think i will stay right away from those now
