re-applied insignia by the looks of it. Did it come from a good source?
You bet ya John. It came from the same Native American vet that I got the Kriegsmarine side cap from. It is just the way he picked it up at the end of WWII.
He wanted a simple design in the beadwork I traded for the cap. In the 1970's and 80's I was considered the best Native American bead worker in the USA and Canada. I am 3/4's white but the US government says that if you are 1/4 American Indian then that is what you are. I have never figured that one out.
Anyway I work with size 13/0 Chech cut glass beads. The smallest made here are a couple pictures of the fan. He brought me the wing and I constructed the handle, covered it with buckskin and beaded it. the beads go in 1 at a time. There are several thousand beads on the handle. About a weeks work.
Well, fan my brow, that is very nice craftsmanship.
