Very very beautiful. The Germans knew how to design amazing Schirmmützen.

Very nice caps, Stonemint. Here are 3 that passed through my hands earlier this year. The two lower ranked caps were from the same owner...

Yes, the white-top was the Erel. Although unmarked, I wondered if the other one with the ribbon threaded through the sweatband was also an Erel- any ideas?

Arran, I have never seen an Erel of any type with a threaded sweatband. My opinion is that all unmarked caps were procured through the OKK, like the W-SS. However, the KM must have contracted with multiple makers, as there are many different types of manufacture. It does not appear that even Erel scored a major OKK contract, as their KM caps are few and far between. It does not appear that Schelly, Pekuro, or Clemens Wagner scored any part of the OKK contracts. My gut is that they went to the Hamburg/Wilhelmshaven/Kiel makers (such as August Geiger for example).

Unfortunately, KM visors are still a mystery that has confounded me to this day.....

3 KM Officers reunited in the AZ desert--something not unknown to the Southwest. A POW camp called Papago Park was the scene of the German equivalent of "The Great Escape", in that a # of U-boat officers tunneled out of the camp in December 1944 (however, their escape was short-lived, as they did not realize that the "rivers" on their maps were simply dry washes!)

ID:	536007If I may be permitted, I would like to show the Royal Navy version of a senior officer's ( commander & captain) WWII cap. It is made by Gieves, perhaps the British version of Holters, and is named to Captain (S) H.P. Foot. The S is for surgeon.
Cap is made of a very high grade doeskin, very soft & smooth.

Many thanks to KarlS for the photos.

Bob--I agree, they not only were the best, but still are.
They still sell those hats to this day:
