Hi Guys, I picked this one up at a show at the weekend.
As German war industry expanded to meet ever increasing demand, moves were always underway to simplify production. This style of cap eagle was one of those newer, simpler, items. Instead of the fixing pins being crimped or soldered in place, this style of eagle had them integeral to the die stamping, thus saving time and money.
This one came from Poland and still has some fluff/material behind one of the prongs.
Cheers, Ade.
