Markings on SS Schirmmütze Chin Strap

Article about: I recall that the following type of marking was met with mixed opinions. Has anyone found any further information that would further support or dismiss this as an original period marking? CM

The genuine markings I've encountered on these straps have been the ones with the manufacturers code as per post #2.

Hasten to add that I've only ever removed these things as to enable the restoration of another area.

The imperative to repair a cap, however, trumps malicious curiosity fomented by the false dogma of maker's marks. And, in the beginning, there were no good fakes of these black straps with the slider.
