The genuine markings I've encountered on these straps have been the ones with the manufacturers code as per post #2.
Hasten to add that I've only ever removed these things as to enable the restoration of another area.

When I was a pup, I pried everything apart, doing huge damage, and then figured out that it was best to leave most things alone. The imperative to repair a cap, however, trumps malicious curiosity fomented by the false dogma of maker's marks. And, in the beginning, there were no good fakes of these black straps with the slider.
