I'm still learning with these tropical helms but it looks like a good 2nd pattern to me, nice condition too. So many are squashed etc.
Many thanks Kradspam just want to have it so i can see the details.
Good condition 2nd pattern pressed felt tropenhelm for the Heer. Unlikely to be DAK unless it has a known history, but a good example of this type, much better than the battered one I have.

Jerry
Whatever its just an opinion.
Thanks Jerry i said DAK because its a trop Helm is it wrong?
Many thenks
thanks for posting it looks a nice helmet ,rgds Dave
The evidence for this type of tropenhelm seeing use in Africa is very slight and like any item of "tropical" kit, unless you know it was actually used by the DAK, it could be from anywhere, Italy, Greece, Southern Russia etc... I tend to use the (also incorrect) term of tropical unless I know it was in Africa, as the term DAK only applies to German troops serving in Africa, whilst a real pedantic attitude would be to say that it's DAK only if it was used by a member of the units that served as part of the DAK, rather than just any units which served in Africa.
I hope that is clear

Thanks a lot for your explanation, both now understand it clearer.
Thought otherwise Tropical meant DAK is there a way of knowing if it has belonged to Any DAK corps, or how can we determine if it was or not.
By the way thanks for helping
The Trop Helm or DAK pith were seen in Africa, Greece, Italy and also in France. I was issued as another part of summer head where. ( funny enough in the 1980s a barge in Holland was found full of type two Africa pith hats)
