I got this in part of a deal on a helmet but not really sure what it is. I'm pretty sure the fur is Rabbit but I haven't got it in hand yet and only have photos of it. I can get better photos when it arrives.

This is indeed a rabbit fur hat issued to German troops in cold conditions, especially on the Eastern Front. They are quiet often found in un-issued condition like this.
Douglas,
Thank you for the quick response. I will get better photos of it when it arrives.
