Hello, I have a WW2 German Infantry officer tunic and trousers. I have researched several sites for a visor cap to go with the set. All of the visor caps that I have found are a lighter shade of gray than my tunic and trousers. Did officers during WW2 have visor caps that didn't match the tunic and trousers? Pics would be greatly appreciated if you all have any. Thanks!Need help on WW2 German Officer's uniformsNeed help on WW2 German Officer's uniformsNeed help on WW2 German Officer's uniforms

As caps and uniforms for Selbsteinkleider (Selbsteinkleider = people who could choose a tailor to have their uniforms made) which officers mostly were, were made by different firms the difference of colour is not the problem as these firms in most cases didn't use the same fabric (only tailors who could also make caps would - such as Holters for example [the specialists on this forum will correct me if I'm wrong] - could make a cap of the same material the tunic was made of as the officer would provide them with this fabric).

Given that your tunic is for Gebirgsjäger a cap for Gebirgsjäger with Edelweiß see here: https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/guide...visors-378261/ would match your uniform. The cap you posted is quite unusual for an officer's cap - it is tellerform (and not a Gebirgsjäger but an infantry cap as its piping is white - Gebirgsjäger caps' piping is green) which indicates EM - would need to see the inside for further analysis.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
As there were private purchase examples as well, there could well be differences in color. Different times and materials would also present different tones. The color is referred to as "Feldgrau". I believe the example you have posted is for a Gebirgsjaeger.

The shoulder boards and the collar tabs indicate infantry. From the Gebirgsjäger uniforms I have seen have shoulder boards with green piping and collar tabs with green in the middle. Here is a pic of the inside of the cap. Need help on WW2 German Officer's uniforms

My fault, I do apologize, I just saw the Edelweiß. The specialists will have an explanation for the edelweiß and the white piping. Here is some information about Hoffmann, the producer of this cap: Muetzenfabrik
1938 G.A. Koffmann nazi visor Berlin real or fake?

There seems to have been a permanent development in the production of GAH caps - the last example comes near to your cap what concerns the sweat band. The specialists will judge about its authenticity.

The Edelweiss patch here must be applied since the Waffenfarbe of the uniform is white for infantry. It would be helpful to have some interior photos of the Bluse and better photos of the shoulder boards. They carry a number but I can't make it out. NH

Looks like "91" on the boards.

Here are some more pics Need help on WW2 German Officer's uniformsNeed help on WW2 German Officer's uniformsI have been told that this infantry unit was transferred to a mountain unit in 1941, do you all have any information on this? Would they wear a visor with white piping until the shoulder boards and collar tabs were changed to green for Gebirgsjager?

Interesting that white soutache was used to cover the green base of the collar tabs - and partly removed/lost. The rests of it are still there.

Likely what happened to the soldier that wore this tunic.
