A NSKK other ranks side cap.
A NSKK other ranks side cap.
Hi Steve, I have always found these caps to be an interesting design being almost a direct copy of the British field service cap in regards to cut.
Do you know anything about the coloured backing to the eagle insignia? I know these come in various colours, I presume for different regions, but that is about all.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi Steve , another great cap ! any chance of a pic. of the buttons.

Hardly unissued?
Hi Guys
The eagles on the side of the cap as I remember have different colors for the different districts. Some where in the piles of books that I own there is the description of which districts the colors are for. My problem at the moment is remembering which book they are in. (????????)
The cap has been worn. The tag inside is missing and there is an embroidered initial A. Probably for personal identification.
At present this style of cap is still relatively inexpensive compared to other organizations side caps.
In "German uniforms of the Third Reich 1933-45" by Davis & Turner it says
" During the war the NSKK became a major asset for the Party within Germany and throughout all German held territories.
Its primary tasks included:
the pre-military training of men between the ages of 18 and 45, as well as the motor-HJ, to insure the provision of recruits for the motorised and armoured units of the Armed Forces."
I personally believe that it is still possible to put together a nice selection of caps, Officers and other ranks for a reasonable sum without breaking the bank.
Oh yea here is the photos of the buttons and the inside of the cap. Sorry about getting so long winded.
I like the personalised "A" embroidered into the cap. Things like that are a very nice touch and help bring it to life.
Cheers, Ade.

The cap belonged to a NSKK man from either Motorgruppe Kurpfalz or Nordsee, indicated by the steel green Gruppe color. The NSKK area Gruppe colors were identical to the Gruppe colors of their SA counterparts.
