Paul Kaps Panzer Officer Schirmmutze

Well I just had to buy it despite the poor condition. How often does a Paul Kaps Pz cap come along? This is the second Kaps I've managed to grab from ebay.

Even though the insects have been merrily chewing away on this one, I still like it a lot because it's obviously a true combat veteran judging by the heavy stains on the lining and grimey tide mark around the bottom of the cap. The chincords have never been off this cap of that I'm sure and the patina and cracks of the peak are just wonderful I think.

A salty veteran from probably my favourite mutzenmacher.

I won't be trying to repair this Pz. It's a fine line but for some examples, restoration just doesn't work and it's better to leave them alone.
