pith shields

I am about to buy this pair, i believe that they are both original but would still like to hear what others have to say?

Both look good originals, though I had not seen this type with the blank eagle reverse before. These have also been posted by someone seeking an opinion on another forum.

Hi Glenn,

Sorry, but I think your shields are copies, with the flawed head to the eagle and the pitted surface to the fronts, which should be pebbled. Also, the flimsy soft soldering on the brass mounting pins.

The thread starter shields are unusual, except by this one maker, RK, according to a mate who has dozens of original Heer shields.

Thank you for the info.I have a pith helmet with both shield mark Assmann.But could not find any info on them on the internet at all.

So, Jerry are you saying that this eagle shield could be Fake? the one i posted with odd reverse!
I know on another forum where shields where posted, one member stated that he has the same one but that these shields are a bit heavier that the others?
