Thanks for the nice images from your chum in town. He has a wonderful collection and these Hussar caps show nicely the high crown of such caps as military fashion.

Very handsome piece, indeed. However, I would always examine the royal signets and that of the upper 10,000 with special scrutiny. There is a cottage industry in the improvement of such headgear to include the dynastic houses....and the stars of Almanach de Gotha....

Very nice and sorry about your loss. These are marvelous things and their color is pleasing.

I know this is not the best example you will see( it's actually quite poor) but I like it, and I think it has a certain character.

I have seen images of this senior collection and it is really quite superb. A mature and advanced collector of great taste and wide reach. Such a contrast to so much of what we are subjected to hereabouts.

    Hi

Another field cap for reference and addition to the thread.

This one is prussian blue and is half lined inside with nice blue cotton. leather peak and plush black velvet cap band.

Also has colour co-ordinated grey leather sweatband and underside of peak.

    cheers

Hi Spandau, I have the same one, with velvet band as well. What I know about them is that they are artillery, and the velvet band ones are artillery officer caps. Any idea on the price of these caps? I was offered a hefty price for mine...but I am missing the top cockade. Any thoughts on prices of ww1 cockades as well?
