    Very very VERY nice cap!

I sharpened up the picture a bit so the name will be easier to read, but unfortunately I can't understand his handwriting, hopefully somebody here does:

    Super cap.

What does the Officers name actually read? I cannot make it out?

    Cheers, Ade.
    Hi Ade-

I had a number of German dealers fail to read the name. When the native speakers could not read it, I did not feel so bad. It appears to Omler, Artur.

to me it looks like "last name first, first name last" thus, "Artur Omlor"?

not that that name comes up anywhere. hmmmm.

i don't like it when a name shows up nowhere.

there is a reference to a German named "Arthur Omlor" in some WWI records. but no "Artur Omlor".

    that's a close as i can get.

Hi Bob, for a remarkable cap, it was made in a rather un-remarkable building in Graz. Here's how it looks today.
I must say it's very refreshing to see a non Kleiderkasse cap and an Austrian made one to boot, surely made/supplied after the Anschluss. Graz looks to be a rather attractive place, not so much so back then however with this huge Nazi obelisque pire type thing!

This cap might even have been here when this photo was taken.

I think I prefer the research to actualy owning these things.

Here's an image I've never seen before but it has my favourite character of these early years. I don't know his name but he's always in the background, has a huge scar on his face and someone you would not want to argue with (far left). During Hitler's visit to Vienna., 1938
