Adrian, what was the reason for inf. with white piping not wearing the edelweiss badge?

The reason I was curious about the infantry with white piping wearing the edelweiss badge on their visors is because I have an officer's uniform from the infantry with a edelweiss patch on the right shoulder. The shoulder boards have 91 on them. I was told the uniform is from the 91st infantry regiment and in 1941 they was transferred to the 91st Gebirgsjager regiment. I was wondering if the officers wore the edelweiss?Click image for larger version.
