I were just about to edit my post because I wanted to add 'apart from luftwaffe caps'. It is indeed seen on regular base on lufties. thank you for the links anyway. The late war erel caps did have the same kind of sweatshield but I wonder if there are also prewar examples with such characteristics...

You are right, I was not aware of this, it is primarily LW caps that display this feature. There is, however, one WH-cap here (post # 24):
