Reeled one in--a "Great White"
Second only to a General Shako, these are the hardest of all TR Tschakos to find--the all-white Verkehrspolizei (Traffic Police) shako.
Unlike the Schupo/Gendarmerie shakos, they did not utilize a wool body of any sort, and all the trim is in white (for visibility).
Also unlike regular shakos, only they were allowed to use gilt fittings (ie, eagle, buckles, & lugs).
I know of maybe 10 untouched examples to this day, as most were utilized postwar (sans offensive insignia, of course).
Further, they are prone to damage, as they lack the wool felt protective cover, and the white laquer is often chipped/cracked.
Been after one of these in this condition for 35 years--worth the wait:

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Oh my god, please never give me your address as you will surely notice that this is stolen!!!
Great find stonemint
Stunning piece. Any period pics with it in wear?
Congratulations on a great find.
I love that feeling of filling a hole in my collection that has been empty for so long.

I was addicted to the "Hokey-Pokey" but I've turned
myself around.
Well done stonemint! A fine addition to what I am sure is an impressive collection!
