I agree , prices of civil headgear are insane nowadays.... not only at the HH auction.....
Think it's because more people enjoy collecting these civil caps and the dealers / auctioneers noticed that.......
For years , civil headgear was underappreciated , that has changed now......
I recently saw a Feuerlösch visor for 700 EUR. and a DRK visor for 1025 EUR. !!!!!

If I may venture an observation about civil III. Reich head wear to the effect that our site and others have brought attention to such items, and it is
normal that interest would grow in such things. One cannot have it both ways.

And I notice that the Wall Street Journal article on the sale of the ex Wolfe things also portends the swift and utter collapse of the Nazi regalia
trade.

Quite interesting price results.
Remember one auction when grands where paid for some common foreign Dachau SS insignias.
Gold is given for more common items, silver for rare items.
But more and more is getting offered in good old Germany lately, more and more collections getting sold.
Next weekend I am visiting a collection sell out, a house was getting emptied where a SS soldier was living, always good chances lately.

On a more serious note, the area where I expected prices to skyrocket was Kaiserreich (Imperial) headgear, given that we are now entering the 100th anniversary of the start of WW1. However, I have not seen it (yet).
This was based on the fact that I did notice prices go up significantly with regard to TR headgear from 1989-1995, which was the 50th anniversary of WW2--however, that event (50 years from WW2) was much more recent at that time....

Please do not take what I say in a false spirit. You have devoted very profound energy to the field, which I think has merit and others follow suit.

The alternatives are pez containers and lunch boxes of the kind I had in Kindergarten in 1958.

In any case, I am glad your collection is more valuable.

These things are not, in the first instance, a commodity for aggressive speculation and bubble making.

Those so inclined should go to casinos and houses of ill repute.

I do find odd the price paid for the door man's cap in the RLM, but, on the other hand, the RLM building is now a major feature of life in 21st century Berlin, and such could easily explain
why such a thing would command a high price.
