    Hello all,

This cap was posted on WAF and given the thumbs up but I wanted to post here as well. This one has a lot of sweat, blood, and grease on it, like a hard-worn cap like you'd expect to see from a cap taken off a guy in a Tiger. Just wanted to show here as well, thank you!

Is that an odd ball place for a bird or is that just me?

The insignia has been badly replaced.

This is how the cap came back to the US as brought back by the Vet; I am sure it would qualify as period.

SS Panzer sidecap - Wehrmacht-Awards.com Militaria Forums

combat-worn garments have repairs and alterations all the time, whether it be a rip in the fabric, an obscure wear area, or insignia falling off from working in cramped-wartime conditions.

Also to show, is a heavily modified and period DAK cap. The cockade has been lost due to combat wear and tear (no pun intended) and the wartime alterations would surely not be considered "textbook" by any means.

Now I understand that on a forum we must have a subjective point of view on the items we see on a two-dimensional screen, but in some cases, and with the provenance I have with my cap, exceptions (and verifiable exceptions like this are are extremely rare) must be made.

This is how the cap came back to the States.
