It looks like a good Müller cap indeed. I can't tell from these photos alone whether this is original or not - it looks fine and has some nice details (e. g. lining) which I like but you'd have to have it in hand to do a thorough inspection of the "bowels" - stuffing, seams, weight etc. to be sure(er). F.-B. with his enormous experience perhaps could have told from these pics alone. I don't know anything about insignia, either - so perhaps the specialists for these will chime in and enlighten us. The same goes for the grey cap BTW.

Yes, an absolutely classic original!

I really appreciate the positive comments from experienced collectors and have just committed to purchase. I hope to be a good steward of this amazing piece of history for many years; will post some pics when it arrives. This appears to be a pretty nice display case made of glass rather than plastic: Rectangle Basketball Display Case | Perfect Cases, Inc. Has anyone used this company's product or have better ideas? A Skipper Greenwade stand too.

i don't think the basketball case will be big enough. A basketball is 9" diameter and it appears that this case might be slightly bigger? You would have to call and ask them the interior dimensions. The football helmet case may work. I would get the cap in hand and measure to see what size you need at minimum and go from there. for sure get a stand or cap holder to keep it off its visor.
I use the "shaper" style stand he has with small pegs that allow the caps to sit just off the visor with a slight downward rake from front to back, like they would sit on a persons head.
you can see the pegs just below the cap in hand or in the background just under the Air Corps Visor

Thanks, hadn't seen the peg style but I like it..and your Air Corps visor too!

Congratulations on that fine cap. I have two of the Skip stands for my visors. You can get them plain or etched with any design. They really do help retain the shape of the visor without putting any pressure on the crown. Just be careful not to over tighten the form and change the shape of the visor. I also opted for the cedar as extra protection from moths. Looking forward to seeing it.
