Unidentified Waffen SS hat

hello this is my first post so hi everyone but anyway i purchased this visor hat on ebay for quite a bit and its missing the eagle insignia and the totenkopf and the cord across the front but its in goodd shape, However i havent been able to figure anything about it out besides that its waffen SS and i was able to figure that out by the clear outline of a totenkopf on the black band on the front i can also see the eagle outline slightly on top but all that tells me is that its not luftwaffe. I honestly do not even know if its an NCO or officers hat and i have no clue on the meadow green piping anyway here are picture i took of it if anyone can tell me anything on it i would appreciate it thanks!!

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

Sorry to say the cap is a reproduction Officers cap. Overall the construction is not up to wartime standards.

The waffenfarbe piping would be for Mountain troops.

hello, this is just personal opinion but it does not seem right ...

I say it, I say nothing but ebay is not the best place to buy military objects and even less German .. In any case, France is not like her can be in the U.S.?

Yeah, I would definately stay away from stuff marked 'SS' on ebay!

Welcome to the Forum. I am sorry your first visit is one that bears bad news. I hope you have an inspection period in which you can return the piece. All of the on-line auctions are filled with reproductions. This site is an excellent place to obtain accurate information and help.

Don't be discouraged by this booboo of a purchase. We have all done it in one way or another.

As others have said, ebay is not a good place to shop. Although i have been very luck you have to know what you are bidding on.
