Just picked this up, and any assistance in identifying the era (ie, KR or Weimar) and the organisation (ie,
Feuerwehr) would be greatly appreciated.
Hat is from Bavaria, and is made by one of my fave makers, Adalbert Breiter of Muenchen. However, this is not a high-quality hat, and is more of a "workhorse" lid, in that it exhibits minimal padding; a cotton lining; and an ersatz sweatband.
Hat is non-military, and probably civil, but I have no idea what for. Body is either a midnight blue or black doeskin. Piping is artillery red.
Note piping is only on the top of the band and the crown.
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Tony, I think this solves the mystery--same black wool body and wool band with only 2 rings of piping. Interior confirms Feuerwehr use--exactly what I was hoping it was!:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
