You have some wonderful history there. It's always nice to expand your collection with family mementos. Make sure and record all of your family history while you can.

The little black knife is a British military folder, early war pattern. It should be dated and marked with a "broad arrow" or "crowsfoot". Similar to, but smaller than the WW1 pattern. The marlinspike is variously used for getting the stones out of horses' hooves, opening cans of milk, sabotaging tires, and rope-work. They were made by just about every British cutler during WW2, and eventually replaced by a stainless steel folder. Issued toi army, navy and probably RAF.

    Hope this helps.
