Haul today! M17 helmet..

Over the moon today.. just got back home from a stamp and coin show.. and some militaria found its way there also...
Met an police officer (old friend) who gave me the two helmets free!! M17 in poor condition, but hay.. original.. you can see the outline of a decal..any advice on restoring it welcome..

Then some other good stuff for your eyes to behold..

The M17 is great and I think it will clean up well. I will leave it to others for the best method though.

He also told me that it was a reissued ww1 m17 hence the m31 liner i think he called it and the decal i should not try and dig out

Is it ok to give it some leather grease?

Ulle....Just leave as is. You will damage anything you try to fix. It "is what it is" & should just be left alone. Everything is very fragile, so I would not touch it. It is a "survivor" & should not be touched.
