There goes that excuse for getting a new router table, bandsaw and lathe. I'll have to come up with another. Excellent inexpensive way to display your helmets! Thanks!

Lol - Roger, what about making stands for the vintage cannonballs you have ?
I'm sure they need to be put onto lathe-turned pedestals !

I have a couple of US Civil War 'grapeshot', which are about 2.5 inches
in diameter. Found a nice 'Rococco' or 'Roman column' pedestal base
for one of them - it's made of plastic and antiqued, with a dip
in the center of the top which the ball rests on.........

Lol - You can just barely see the flying saucer model in the photo as well.........!

Years ago, when my mother was still alive and her youngest two grandkids
were over, there was a note left beside a plate of cookies for all to see
that read: "Do Not Eat ! These Cookies Are For The Visitors !" which
were for a few ladies from her church group she was having over
    later that day.

The kids wondered, since after all, they were 'visitors' too, why they
weren't allowed to have some, and I suggested - with a finger
pointing towards the sky, that she meant 'the other visitors'.

So aliens have been a sort of silly gag from then. I am really a
skeptic, but I still expect them to arrive any minute.........!

Unil I move back to my house at the end of my wifes poasting this is how I display my "precious" few helmets I could bring with me....ignore the marine landing badge and chinstrap on Japanese helmet, just some repros I had to throw on

Helmet stands coutesy of a forum member

Best thing is, these are in the lounge room!!! Not on the shelving in the garage back home, my wife likes art deco, so I actually found a passage in a book that said German helmets are considered as designed using art deco as the inspiration, and with the wooden helmet stands she lets me have them in thevlounge

I'm trying out to see how to display the latest addition; since due to it's unusual chinstrap I want that to be visible a stand is the only way to go. The abacus is a temporary stand until I get a proper one. I'm also going to have to move the box I have up there away so there's room for the helmets. The Belgian M51 is also pictured, with a new coat of paint.
