    Default Ikea Display cabinet

    Hello,
Soon I will be going up to Dublin for a week and an Ikea is there. I have been working hard trying to figure out an appropriate display for my small but growing fast collection .
I have already got a shadow box (I can post a pic if you want) and a couple of old wooden cigar boxes (very good for medals or ammunition).
This is the only display cabinet I could find, DETOLF Glass-door cabinet - black-brown - IKEA
What do you think of it? and is there anything else on Ikea you would recomend?

    cheers,
    -Patrick

A popular cabinet for displaying a collection. The only drawback is the gap down the hinge side of the door. It allows alot of dust in which will settle over your collection but if you can figure a way to block the gap it should be perfect for your needs.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

I have two of those cabinets, and i agree with adrian on this.
However the problem has a very easy solution, i bought an role of isolating material, the stuff used in windows and underneath doors (to stop the circulation of wind and cold ) this works fine. Its easy to do, cheap and fast to do it.

I can post photos if you like.
    Cheers.

Good suggestion for an easy fix - I was thinking the same thing.
It's a thin foam strip with adhesive backing............
    Regards,

    Steve.

Hi have removed bits of strip in some areas for you to notice the diference. The areas without strip is how the cabinets are when bought.

    Hi guys,

If you dont mind having only one sided views, the Ikea "Billy" book cases are great. You can get glass fronted doors for them also.
They are available in various widths, (40cms and 80cms) and various heights.
I have got one as a display unit for my models and find that there is very little, if any, dust ingress..

    Regards etc
