Yellow certainly wasn't used on a Bomber..
I will find out, that's for sure chaps
I love the fact that every body has a opinion, that's what keeps this interesting and most welcome too
my reference is Luftwaffe Colours by Michael Ullmann. It has transcripts of all the official painting guidelines.
The use of RLM Gelb was allowed for:
1. Wing tips
2. Theatre bands
3. Defence of Reich bands
I can't see any mention of it being directed by the RLM for the painting of yellow noses.
This would have been a local staffel/geschwader decision.
It was also used on some emblems ( e.g. Weeping raven)...
Yellow noses on fighters were to aid in first aerial identification particularly in the chaos of the battle of Britain. Some bombers also had wing tips painted yellow for the same reason. I also believe captured aircraft had the underside painted yellow for ease of identification as well.
