    Default The Luftwaffe in Ireland

    The following collection is combination of two Luftwaffe collections based in Ireland, belonging to Jim Murray and Paul Woodbyrne, both collections are flight related only, Paul's would be a general flight collection with a interest in Battle of Britain, where Jim's would only be Battle of Britain and anything relating to the bomber wing Kampfgeschwader 55 (KG 55) Jim's items are marked with a (J) and Paul's are marked with a (P)

    in Gold winner 17/5/1943. (J)

    The winter flight suit belonging to Hauptmann Adelbert Karbe knightscross winner 12/11/1941 St Kapt. 3rd staffel KG55.
    Karbe was killed in action on the 31st of July 1942, when his He.111h6 G1+GV of stab IV/KG55 was shot down on a mission to Birmingham by P/O B.R. Keele and P/O G.H. Cowles in a Beaufighter from no. 604 squadron. (J)
