    Hi,

I am planning on getting a mannequin to replace the sewing/tailor dummy I have now :-)
I want to have a mannequin with pants and boots so my question is how make the dummy stand without the support being visible.
Cutting into clothing or drilling holes in shoes is not an option :-)

    Thanks !

Hi. I use a metallic base which has an attached pole of 1,30 cm in the back. I place the pole under the tunic and when the belt is worn around the tunic it holds the weight of the mannequin on the pole.

On a side note, make sure you buy a mannequin that is the correct size for your tunic.

I now just spent out a lot of money on a mannequin and the tunic I have for him is too small! -_-

    Thank you, Glen.

A number of the new mannequins have a stand which has a metal bar/rod that fits into the calf of the leg, the majority of the bar is hidden by the trousers. The mannequin will fit most shoes and low cut boots but the longer boots won't fit. I have found this one on ebay, it's not a brilliant picture but should show what I mean

Yes German uniforms of WWII were slim fit which was fashionable at the time. So it's difficult to find big sizes. You must choose slim mannequins but this is not much of a problem since you always have the option to modify them. The thing is to buy uniforms of size 96-98 and above.
Recently i bought a high quality mannequin which was 1,90 cm in height and i made it aprox 1,75 cm.

I have that one and as you said it doesn't help with high boots. It's hands are not in a good pose and they need modification according to my standards.
