Sure Nick, the first baby document came out alittle better. It says, "You bestow on the German People one child receiving the first name Christine. In the truer sense of closeness we wish them and their community, Burs, and the new baby, happiness (luck). The Mutter Bertha book cover says, "Mother Bertha, a German Woman's Life". The translators don't work too well with the "Old German".

    Take care,

Oh Nick, you little devil. I just read your post again and you were teasing me to translate the WHOLE BOOK! I initially thought you meant the front only. Okay, you got me, I have to stop reading these threads so fast.

Hi Adrian, I have a literal translation which doesn't flow very well, but gets you alittle closer. "The mothers heart is the nicest unverlierbarste place and the son even if he already wears gray hairs knows their is only one in the world."

The mothers heart is the nicest undetachably place for a son / even if he already wears gray hairs / knows there is only one for everybody in the universe."

The book "Mutter Berta" tells the story of Berta Eder, a farmer´s wife with 10 children in Carinthia / Austria (Kärnten). The book covers last years of WW1 to annexation of austria in 1938. She lost some sons in WW1 and after but still believes in national socialism. After annexation she was awarded with golden cross for the german mother (Mutterkreuz).
