I don't know. I do not know much about 1800's handguns. Yeah, I plan on holding on to it. But, i've got time since I'm only 14. :P
Thanks for answering. If the cylinder is held in by screw underneath barrel it is first generation. This could be very valuable. Have it appraised by expert. Also Colt will sent you information on gun if you send them serial number of gun. Nice corresponding with you.

Don't worry, I've had it appraised and ID'd. I just don't know much about 1800's weapons. It was valued by 5 people at around $3500-4000. I think the date they said was 1897 (?)
