Default My incredibly modest SS collection

I never intended to collect SS, that was the decision I made right from the beginning. Leave it to the experienced, confident and well heeled collectors I thought. The cost, the fakes and the worry about the sharks out there in dealer-land always made me content to sit back and leave that hassle to others.

But every now and again an item would become available that was (a) within my budget and (b) 100% genuine and I would think, yeah why not? I've got a very modest few SS relics now so I feel game enough to show them. A couple have been posted before but this week's delivery has put me in a position to share. I hope you like!

Button from I think a Feldmutze. I love the original paint remains.

The ubiquitous Schirmutze skull. An Overhoff I believe.

M40 Helmet of the SS Gebirgsjager Regiment 12, a bunker find from North Karelia on the Louchi front. Its an ET64, lot number 61 which matches to another SS SD M40 on the GHW database.

Total spend so far has been less than $2000. Gawd knows what the sum would be if these pieces had all been minty!

    Cheers

    Very nice indeed Glenn

Sometimes I regret not buying SS but with EKs and general militaria you get much more for your money I suppose. Also the postman knocks more frequently !

I can only admire and drool over the wonderful SS items that members post!

    Keep it going Glenn
