I know its not war related, but i recently found this photo in my fathers house, he believes it to be a picture of my Grandfather, approximately 1 year old.

Ive been absent for some time, been busy working and doing other things, so i figured it was time to update my thread!

Ive found two more items going through family belongings, a US naval ratings patch, aswell as a 1923 Funf Milliarden Mark!

I assume the patch is aviation related, given the propeller below the eagle, but it lacks any markings to indicate its age.

The bank note i found tucked away in an old hardcover book, it shows minimal wear and has a crease here and there, but is in great shape. The oak leave water mark is visible with back lighting aswell!

This update is not ww2 related, rather US space program items!

As my grandfathers communications background is shown by his USAF awards, i have found more of his items that show how vested he was his field!

Here are several envelopes with space themed stamps commemorating the Apollo 11 lunar landing on July 20 1969 and the recovery of the Astronauts on Jul 24 1969. One envelope is addressed to my father from my grandfather while on the USS Hornet - part of the naval recovery force.

I picked up a glass cabinet this weekend to display part of my collection, and it looks quite empty compared to other members cabinets, but that will change in time!

I have now added two more pieces to my collection, a Krim shield without cloth backing, and a Gold grade Drivers qualification badge that has seen better days!

I also dismantled a framed display of my grandfathers medals and moved them to my display case to further fill it in.

    Default Customs Forms

    KUDO's
Excellent and diverse collection! I especially like the glass display case.
    Thanks for sharing.
There was also a custom's form that had to be filled out to bring back some of those items. You may also have the Custom's declarations card in that collection, particularly if he returned by ship. Airmen often didn't, because they flew directly into a military airfield, but here is a good example:
