Hi Douglas, I have just found your thread and it is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting threads that I have viewed to date. Once again, in my opinion, what makes your collection exceptional is its diversity of subjects and general display. If you look at the average collection on display, they tend to be very specialised and as a result repedative ergo, my swords thread. Your collection is multi faceted and full of variety. Your breadth of knowledge must also be exceptional in order to cover such a diverse range of militaria and periods. Simply magnificent!!!!!
Regards and best wishes Michael Ryan

Thanks gentleman for your comments. With regard to the breadth of the collection, it is of course generally advised for collectors to concentrate on one area, but this is just impossible for me as my interests are too wide ranging. It does mean that I amass a great deal of knowledge, but as its very spread out, I will never become an expert on any particular subject, unlike so many others on this forum on whose expertise I often call. However, the point of collecting is the enjoyment and stimulus we get from it, and I certainly get that from mine!

Hi again Douglas, The last thing you want to become is an "Expert", much better to be an all rounder with a finger in lots of interesting pies than an expert in one. In my opinion, self professed experts are like necrophilia -- Dead Boring!! Keep up the good work, enjoy the stimulus and happy hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice display heads for the visor and helmet, where do you buy these?

Thanks for the comments. They are painted polystyrene heads from ebay, with a layer of tissue paper between them and the headgear to prevent any possible damage to the headgear.

Just re-read your thread again. Really nice. You should get the Soviet medal group researched. It would cost about 45 Euro and that would put a name to the Bravery Medal and confirm the group.

    Your photos are superb.

    Cheers, Ade.

Who is the ebay seller of these heads may I ask? I obtain my current heads from the seller 'Lily Yang Store', they are nice and cheap but I think yours look better in terms of form.

Adrian, I appreciate your kind comments, I will indeed get these researched and post any info I find.

Glenn, I'm sorry to say that having looked today it appears these heads are no longer available on ebay.
