Top tip - If you get a detection and spend the next 30 minutes digging a 2 foot deep hole and you STILL haven't found the item......move to the side a little bit !!

Hi Lt Martin. You have a very nice collection going there.
My only question is.. how did a 9 yr old get interested in collecting WW2 items? I have a hard time getting a response from my 11 yr old when showing a new acquisition, let alone some interest in the subject. It's really good to see young blood in our great hobby.

Outstanding! Great stuff! I wish I started back then. If you ever decide to join the Army, Old Ironsides was the best 38 months of my life! Lee
Lt Martin, keep going with the collection. If you lose interest as you get older, NEVER GET RID OF IT.
I too was a collector at your age. I had hundreds different shell cases, the side of a battery from a B17 with markings on it, Nazi armband from the Afrika korps, mills grenades, German costal defence greatcoat, nearly complete ww2 Royal Artillery uniform + webbing, daggers and bayonets, parts of a V2, etc, etc. Alot of my collection was given to me by veterans, or found by myself ie shell cases.
Anyway, I get into my teens and become interested in 'other' stuff... and got rid of everything
I'm now in my 40's and I'm happy with my collection, but I can never get back those items that I got rid off that all had stories to go with them.
Good luck with your collection, Simon.
Thats a nice collection
Best regards
Nuno
