My small DRK collection
Having some time off this year from Helmets and field gear ( running out of room if truth be told ) so have been collecting some lesser sought items. Not for future resale but just because they struck my fancy and were kind of neat.
So here is a group of Deutsches Rotes Kreuz items for your viewing pleasure.
Clockwise from left are
1) Frostbite salve - disposable waxed paper container for front line use.
2) Burns ointment in glass jar - for rear use or field hospitals
3) Social Welfare medal
4) First aid book with
5) donation badge
6) 1943 calendar and diary with
7) DRK membership pin
8) ground dug DRK belt buckle
Cheers, Dan

Of interest ( at least to me ) is that the Frostbite salve is dated April 1941 ( just before the Winter Barbarossa offensive ) and the Burns Salve is August 1942 ( just before the Stalingrad battle )
For me these dates REALLY cement these small insignificant item's place in history!!
