Also is it that the USA flag is backwards so it always advances? Is this true???? Hey I'm asking nicely. as you guys may see I preserve lots of our history

It's how the flag sit's on a flagpole.It,s not reversed it's the right way around.

Hi René, they do wear them "Back to front looking" now, which I think looks odd. But it is correct.
The 40 would represent the number of the Regt: 40th Engineers.

USAF left arm.
Flag still has flagpole orientation.
