Very nice Paul ... Years ago I had a 30-06 ( American, damned if I can remember the make but its a common name) ... had a K-Kahles(?) scope [not cross-hairs, just a post with horizontal line] that slid onto a locking (gam-lock) plate/base off-set alongside the breach, it was originally fully-wooded but had been cut down, I thought I wanted to be a hunter like my older brother, I was wrong, ... wish I had of kept it now of course, I was 17 at the time, over 30 years ago,... I was told it had come from the Pacific Theatre

Interesting Kiwi, as Kahles are a German company from memory. Wonder how it got all the way out there?

The rifles have had various pressure bearing parts like the bolt head, locking lugs etc ground down, the firing pin has been cut down and the barrels have been slotted for the majority of their length and a rod heat expanded and welded inside. The chambers also have a rod welded across them about 1/3 of the way in from the breach to prevent a round being chambered.

The Shoei G43 can cycle rounds though as it is a replica rifle,

They made a limited number of these a good few years ago, but still make FG42's and many variants of the MP43/44.

Thankfully even though the outside has slight rusting, the elevation adjustment and optics are still good.

Sadly, at some point during it's life the poor thing had its integral mount cut off by someone (can still make out where it was). The optics are still good, and at the sum of 20 I could not complain really

Well, thats my collection (so far). Thanks for looking

    Paul.
