Picked up this nice observer wing today. This type of wing was in use during the reign of Franco from 1940 until 1975. This is probably a later model from the 1950's or later based on the tooling of the crown and wings. these are referred to as "Rokiski's" on Spanish websites which actually refers the manufacturer name on many of the marked wings.
This is an interesting postwar 20-N pin commemorating November 20th, the date of death of Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera on November 20, 1936 and General Franco on November 20, 1975. The far-right groups still commemorate the date with organizing public demonstrations. Although this pin does not really reflect my area of collecting, it does represent the end of the era of the founder of the Falange party and the Dictator of Spain.
The pin is nicely enameled with the Spanish flag colors and the same Victory symbol in the center which is also found on the Civil War campaign medals on the left rim above the coat of arms
I had a look through the majority of this thread and i will say you have a great collection. I have never had much exposure to spanish items but this was a great introduction to them
Thank you, I started last year and it has gotten out of control. It's a tough learning curve but I'm winging it as I go along. stay tuned for a few more items I will post in the next few days, Cheers, Al
I picked up these beautiful "Cuerpo de Seguridad y Asalto" Security and Assault forces civil war era collar insignia. These were the blue uniformed urban Police force equivalents to the gray uniformed national "Guardia Civil" forces. Of the 18,000 Assault guards at the outbreak of the civil war, 12,000 remained loyal to the republicans and the rest went on to fight for the Nationalist's under General Franco. As you can see the uniforms are almost identical except for the cap insignia and tunic patches. That's what makes this area of collecting difficult
Correction to Post #24
I posted what I believed to be a Nationalist Cap badge early in the thread and have now learned it is actually a regulation 1940 shoulder strap insignia for the General Franco Escort Regiment. They would fall under the National uniformed Police force of the Guardia Civil. The pair of straps got away from me at auction but at least it served as a learning tool.
