Default The rest of my collection

As I have posted German cloth insignia and tropical helmets in 2 other threads I thought I would just post the rest as one thread, but post it in segments by some sort of theme.

I'll start with Dutch WWII or post war items.

Firstly is a Dutch resistance propaganda booklet, a Dutch liberation armband, Two liberation plates, a pre war M34 Dutch helmet reissued after the war, a British and Canadian Tommy helmets, reissued by the Dutch after the war, a post war Dutch made Tommy helmet, A Dutch naval academy visor and a Royal Dutch marines beret.

    Regards,

    Jerry

Some British items, I have more but they are packed away and I don't have pics of them, but this is most of it and the best of what I have (except the tropical helmets which are in the other thread). Starts with my Dad's medals and his cap badge, then some WWI stuff, then WWII, some insignia, helmets etc...a spitfire made from melted down shot down German planes and lastly a Vietnam era American recruiting sign from a recruiting office (as I don't have much USA stuff).

    Regards,

    Jerry

Sorry if they are not in order, I did arrange them correctly, but the WWII tommy helmet is out of synch.

Another British item, not strictly militaria, but interesting all the same, IMO. A cigarette box commemorative of the first ever Monarchs speech to the Nation broadcast by George V in 1933. It still show Britain's naval might with one panel showing some warships and is typically gungho and patriotic, you alsmost expect it to play rule Britania when you open the lid.

Another not strictly military item, but a helmet all the same. A M1890 Swiss firemans helmet, bought in the Amsterdam flea market. It is shown as found and after a clean and a bit of a polish, which in use it would have been kept clean and shiny, IMO.

Hi Tom and thanks. Obviously, I will be posting more items, including German items that did not go in the other two collection threads, tunics, trousers, a cap, equipment items, photos, paperwork etc........

The first helmet is a Dutch military helmet, a M34, which was part of a batch found after the war that had never been finished, they had no liners, so new liners were made for them and they were repainted in the post war shade of green. The truck my Dad is sat in is something I do not know, maybe someone can tell me, but I think it is probably Italian and maybe civilian taken into military service.

He was in the territorials and served with the Royal signals, he was wounded by torpedo shrapnel on a troopship and was mentioned in dispatches for carrying a wounded comrade to safety whilst under enemy fire. I sadly don't know exactly which unit he was attached to, and it might have changed through time. I have applied for his service records and the MOD have said it could take up to a year.
