Thanks Steve. The USMC items all belonged to Lucian Willis Bugbee who was with the 6th Regiment. Bugbee later joined the USNR and was engineering officer on the USS Vestal at Pearl Harbor.

I have a small dovetailed box of his that contains a round piece of green painted shrapnel which is engraved "From Jap Bomb USS Vestal Dec 7 1941".

I aqquired the collection from the family. I work with the grandaughter and caught the stuff before it went to the church rummage sale. No one in the family had any interest in any of it so she gave it all to me. 3 trunks worth!

It is always great to hear of items being saved and going to collectors who will appreciate the history and care for the items.

I would love to see more.

    Cheers, Ade.

There is so much more to the collection and his story. Born in 1899 prior to WWI he was a USA Boy Scout, then in 1917 joined the USMC. After the Armistice he was discharged from the Marines but opted to stay in Germany so joined the US Army and operated a bowling alley for the YMCA in Coblenz. I have items from all of these periods in his life to include several boxes of 8mm color film he took while in the pacific during WW2. It goes on and on....
