"A few days later the second wave of conquerors arrived in Berlin. These troops - Mongolian regiments - no longer wore neat uniforms; they appeared in tattered, mud-caked brown tunics and baggy pants, tucked into short boots. They rode down Kurfurstendamm on what we called Panje-wagen - primitive horse-drawn wagons - hauling small artillery and supplies. Their horses were small, short legged, shaggy, and of an unknown, perhaps Mongolian breed.
After seeing these new troops ride down the KU'damm, our fears multiplied. They talked about it in the cellar, and people could not believe what they'd seen.
This ratty horde had given the death blow to Berlin? We had to face the truth. We were the conquered. And yes, these men in their horse-drawn wagons were our conquerors. We were the spoils." from "Goodbye to the Mermaids - A Childhood Lost in Hitler's Berlin" by Karin Finell
An interesting view. Yet no Mongolian troops served in Europe. This is probably the Hitlerite racial attitude that the Soviets were somehow "Mongolian"?

Most certainly they called "Mongolian" all those that were from the asiatic colonies.
